Chris Simms: 'I had to tell my dad first' about CBS demotion

Chicago Bears v Dallas Cowboys

Over the last month, the Tony Romo saga has basically been a never-ending cycle of repetitive SportsCenter updates.

Chancellor said that the Permian Basin organization reached out to Prescott back in September to invite him for a visit, back during Prescott's first few starts with the Cowboys and before his meteoric rise to fame.

When asked about Jones, Romo opened up about the owner, and saying Jerry is loyal nearly to a fault. With his injuries piling up and the ascension of Dak Prescott, Romo was in a tough spot, as it became more and more apparent that the Cowboys were entering a new era without him.

Prescott, who was seen on TV last weekend at the NCAA Women's Final Four in Dallas pulling for Mississippi State in its victory over UConn, also rushed 52 times for 282 yards and 6 touchdowns. His mind was near genius when it came to football. After all, "99 per cent certain" does leave the door slightly open. Dallas raced out to an early lead, and then Brees went to work in the second quarter leading the Saints to 21 straight points.

Viewers who are between 18 and 34 years of age will have an opportunity to see a player they once watched in the at a relatively young age. Now, it will be Savage's job, unless the Texans swing big for a rookie quarterback in the draft or make another move.

CBS has said a bunch of nice things publicly about Phil Simms.

Killing the Clean Power Plan and lifting restrictions on coal mining would at most slow the decline of this 19th century fuel. The Obama rule was created to limit polluting coal-fired power plants in favor of green energy, such as wind and solar.

Some in the media were disconcerted by Romo being elevated to the top CBS announcing immediately upon arrival. Don't get me wrong, CBS is my favorite option for National Football League coverage, but plenty of folks are more impressed with the personalities on the four other networks because they are more fun to watch. The New England Patriots are the clear favorite with 4/1 odds. But with Romo off the market, the potential price for Garoppolo just keeps going up.

And so Romo at his best (he was third in the MVP voting and first in passer rating that season) didn't get a chance to play for a Super Bowl. Could Houston be interested? Even so, it's hard to imagine this transition being seamless or not being roundly criticized if Romo struggles to find a groove. If it's any comfort to Phil, Romo will more than likely injure himself trying to pick up a microphone.

"It's a very manageable risk, to be honest with you", CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said. But whatever his new function is, it's going to be an adjustment.

"It really had nothing to do with the Texans and everything to do with CBS". But there are some silver linings. But the cold war with Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett continues. He would have been insane to bench Prescott with the way the team was playing, even if he coached Romo for a decade.

After falling down 14-0 to the visiting Detroit Lions in the Wild Card round in 2014, Romo led the Cowboys on a furious comeback. Romo never got his team there, but the argument of his team versus his ability is central to the issue.
