Israel seeks to contain fallout from Trump intel sharing with Russian Federation

Israeli intelligence is reassessing what information they choose to share with the country's "greatest ally", the United States, according to a Wednesday report in the Hebrew-language daily Yedioth Ahronoth.

A United States administration official confirmed to AFP on condition of anonymity that the original intelligence came from Israel, which was initially reported by the New York Times.

Wednesday, Putin - speaking at a joint news conference with the visiting Italian prime minister - said he had "no other explanation" as to why Trump came under attack other than "political schizophrenia".

Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered to give a transcript of White House talks between his foreign minister and Donald Trump to Congress to prove that the USA president didn't give away secrets.

But Russian strongman and president Vladimir Putin today insisted Mr Trump did not pass on secret information - and says he has the recording to prove it.

Putin mocked the idea that Trump went off-script to share secrets with the Russians, saying he could issue a "reprimand" to Lavrov since the minister hadn't passed on the information.

Questions over the discussion come amid reports Mr Trump asked former FBI director James Comey to drop an investigation into ex-national security adviser Michael Flynn and his ties to Moscow.

An undercover Israeli agent inside the Islamic State has been put at risk by President Donald Trump's disclosure of classified information to Russia, ABC News reported. The White House dismissed the report as false.

Al Jazeera's Rory Challands, reporting from Moscow, said: "It's basically power projecting from Putin".

On Monday, the Washington Post claimed citing unnamed sources that Trump allegedly disclosed highly sensitive information about how terrorist organizations plan to use laptops as bombs on airplanes.

Putin's remarks came after The New York Times on Tuesday evening reported that Israel was the source of classified intelligence that Trump purportedly disclosed to the Russian officials.

On the Russian intelligence controversy, the Tories say it doesn't warrant a review of our information sharing agreement with the U.S., adding it's far more unsafe to withhold info form our allies than to have some of it leaked.

That information had apparently been received from another country and was not America's to share without getting permission from that country first.
