Donald Trump still standing, but damaged by James Comey's testimony

The crux of his highly-anticipated remarks was released by the Senate panel Wednesday - and it only confirmed the hype around his appearance while detailing the extent to which President Trump pressed him about the Russian Federation investigation.

He added that this was why he wrote memos about his interactions with Trump.

That was the case when Comey talked about Trump's discussion with him about former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. In the House, intelligence committee Chairman Devin Nunes is investigating those claims - at the same time the rest of his panel conducts its Russian Federation probe.

"That concerned me because that language tracked how the campaign was talking about the FBI's work and that's concerning", Comey said.

Comey's testimony and pre-released opening statement didn't reveal much in the way of new information, but it provided him with the opportunity to say that President Donald Trump was never the subject of an investigation during Comey's tenure at the FBI. Comey was sacked last month, less than four years into his 10-year term.

"The president feels completely vindicated", said Kasowitz, who took no questions from reporters at the Press Club. "The thing is, this was just another log on the fire, because America is going to continue to push forward on this".

James Comey may stand at the center of a political maelstrom, but the ousted Federal Bureau of Investigation chief turned nemesis of the president did not flinch as he laid down devastating accusations against Donald Trump.

Mr Risch targeted the president's usage of the word "hope", which he said did not amount to obstruction of justice.

Earlier in his testimony, Comey told Burr he simply would not draw any conclusions regarding obstruction of justice.

"If the White House's account differs from what we heard today, the American people deserve to here the president's side of the story in a similar forum under oath and open to the press", added Murphy.

Durant's menacing defense leads the way for Warriors
To wit: the Warriors have outscored Cleveland by nine points in the first two quarters, and by 30 in the second half. The Warriors have yet to lose in the playoffs, and they might just be too good to be challenged by anyone.

Still, there's no doubt the veteran lawman made for a challenging adversary.

Once dismissed by Trump as "Little Marco, " Rubio even homed in on the one issue that has most animated the president: leaks of information damaging to him.

And as Comey dropped his explosive revelations before a stunned audience, including millions tuning in on television and digitally around the world, the testimony took on a tone of personal revenge by a man reportedly branded a "nutjob" by the president himself.

"He had to throw some brushback pitches to the administration", Wittes told the Times, referring to Comey's efforts to get Trump and his aides to stop making inappropriate requests. "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go". He is a good guy.

Later, when asked about why he felt compelled to write memos to document his meetings with first president-elect and then President Trump-something he said he'd never felt the need to do with presidents George W. Bush or Barack Obama-Comey explained that, in part, it was due to "the nature of the person".

Specifically, according to Comey's testimony, after he met that day with Trump and others in the Oval Office, Trump ordered all the other officials out of the room - twice reiterating to lingerers, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Trump's son-in-law and adviser, Jared Kushner, that they were to leave.

During a hard-to-follow line of questioning, McCain pressed Comey about his investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's email use.

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) pointed out that while Trump himself may have not been the subject of the Russian Federation probe, his campaign most certainly was.

In a phone call on March 30, Comey says, the president asked him what could be done to "lift the cloud".
