Wind howling as final round at Erin Hills gets under way

Ah, a sweet thought. He's also found some great success in majors, qualifying for the 2012 U.S. Open as an amateur, recording a 10th-place finish at the 2014 U.S. Open, and finishing tied for fifth and fourth at the 2015 and 2016 PGA championships.

Koepka - like Jason Day, Danny Willett, Dustin Johnson, Henrik Stenson, Jimmy Walker and Sergio Garcia - is a bridesmaid no more.

As the front nine progressed, it looked increasingly as if it would come down to a question of who would blink first.

Koepka birdied both Nos.

"As long as I can get in them, I'll play them, " he said.

"But he just said a few things, and just stay patient".

While others, including Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas, made waves with their impressive single-round scores, consistency was the biggest key behind Koepka's win. I scrapped a little bit for it, but I felt fine.

Right now, there may not be any sport in America where you can be as good as Koepka - nearly everyone in golf thinks that the ex-Florida State star, ranked No. 22 in the world, is a major figure of the game's future - and yet have so many genial, obsessed, talented players of your generation, your own buddies, who are constantly trying to grind you to dust by their sheer numbers. What I've done this week is wonderful. "I don't see it turning into a situation that gets out of control, like people saw in 1992". Li turned professional at age 16 and won the Volvo China Open last year on the European Tour, securing a two-year membership and qualifying for the Rio Olympics. If I keep playing well enough, I'll be in the PGA. It's one of those things. "And I just couldn't stand the fact I'd only won once".

No regrets from the man who spent his Sunday jostling for the lead of the U.S. Open, you'd probably think.

More summer storms, some possibly severe
The National Weather Service said the parameters will be in place for a few microbursts across north and parts of central Alabama. Partly cloudy. "The primary risk will be that of damaging winds, though, some 1" diameter or bigger hail also looks possible.

They are close friends on the golf course and in the gym, and they play a similar game of power off the tee, a clean strike with the iron and a knack for looking calm even as the pressure is ramping up.

Harman started the day with a one-shot lead over three players, and he still held a share of the lead with Koepka with seven holes to go. The T5 finish is the best major finish for the 35-year old former FedEx Cup champion.

"This is the new age of golf", he said.

"When he started I couldn't hit it and I was missing cuts for fun". These guys have a lot of firepower. They bomb it. If they hit it crooked, they'll bomb it again.

"They're playing against the same people they always play against". It's fun to watch.

With a gusty wind blowing across Erin Hills, Spieth's first shot at the par-3 13th hole landed about 5 feet from the flag.

He closed the show spectacularly. The shot actually went 379.3 yards.

But he had to settle for a tie for second with Harman, four strokes back of the champion. He came home with a fourth-straight under-par round, a 67 following 67, 70, and 68. He ended the tournament at 16-under par, tying Rory McIlroy's record for a U.S. Open.
