Frankie Dettori ruled out of Royal Ascot

Ward only needs one more victor to move level with the likes of blue-bloodied racing aristocrat William Haggas, the son-in-law of the multiple champion jockey Lester Piggott, who counts the Queen among his clients. "As technology and markets continue to expand, we're excited to team with Royal Ascot to continue showcasing our sport to bettors around the world".

Royal Ascot is a five-day race meeting at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire. It is a attractive place and a handsome setting and having runners here is what I live for.

First up, and seeking to become the first Royal Ascot victor ever televised by ITV, is Ribchester, successful in last year's Jersey Stakes but now swimming in the much deeper and classier waters of the Queen Anne Stakes.

"There's nothing like Royal Ascot".

Dettori was pencilled in for four rides on the opening day, including King's Stand Stakes favourite Lady Aurelia, who will now be ridden by John Velazquez.

With more than £6.5 million in prizes up for grabs, Royal Ascot is Britain's most valuable horse racing event and the 2017 edition is shaping up to be a huge success as well, taking place from 20th to 24th June.

How involved is the Queen?

A dedicated racehorse owner, she has attended every Royal Meeting during her reign and the Royal Procession is always an iconic moment to herald the start of every raceday. Jockeys riding the Queen's horses wear her racing colours - purple body with gold braid, scarlet sleeves, and black velvet cap with gold fringe.

Although no Australian equine talent will be on display, Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Payne takes her chance on Kaspersky in the Queen Anne Stakes which opens the meeting, and although on an outsider, she will be bidding to be just the second female jockey to ride a victor at Royal Ascot following Gay Kelleway's victory on Sprowston Boy in 1987!

Organisers advised punters via the Ascot website to expect tightened security, saying: "You will notice a stronger armed and uniformed police presence throughout the site and the vicinity".

The strict dress code means strapless, off the shoulder, halter-neck, spaghetti straps and dresses with a strap of less than one inch (2.5cm) are banned in the exclusive area.

Ribchester is the biggest name among a stellar cast at Royal Ascot tomorrow and it is hard to envisage a scenario which will see him beaten in the Queen Anne Stakes.

This will be Miss Temple City's third trip to Royal Ascot; she's taken on the girls the last two trips and finished fourth each time but looks to better that performance against the boys here.

There will also be collections at the exits on all five days of racing for spectators to contribute.

Tickets can be purchased for the Queen Anne and Windsor enclosures on the Tuesday and Wednesday of the meeting, and for the Windsor and Village enclosures on the Thursday and Friday.
