Dodgers will face a very familiar opponent in Diamondbacks

Rockies knows D-backs present a challenge

National League West rivals battle in the National League Wild Card Game as the Colorado Rockies visit the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Rockies could attest to that in the first inning, when starter Jon Gray was shelled to the tune of five hits, including a three-run home run off the bat of Paul Goldschmidt that snapped the first baseman's 0-for-17 slump.

Greinke was absolutely brilliant in a bounce-back season for the Snakes, posting a 3.20 ERA, 215 strikeouts in 202.1 innings and a WHIP of 1.07.

The Diamondbacks will start veteran ace Zack Greinke who compiled a 17-7 record with a 3.20 ERA in 32 stats for the D-backs. The Diamondbacks led the season series against the Rockies with 11 wins and eight losses and have won the last two home games against the Rockies.

The National League playoffs begin tonight with two teams that haven't played in the postseason for some time.

A general view as the Chicago Cubs take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in game five of the National League Division Series at Dodger Stadium on October 20, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

Goldschmidt now has three career postseason home runs, the third-most in D-backs franchise history.

Like we said, first pitch was scheduled for 5:08 p.m., so we're taking a page out of the D-backs' book and advising people to get down there early.

Despite throwing just 110.1 innings, Gray was far and away the Rockies' most effective starter.

Colorado found itself in a hole again in the bottom half, when reliever Archie Bradley, a career.098 hitter, became the first reliever to hit a postseason triple, driving in two runs to put the Diamondbacks up 8-5. Goldschmidt's home run ignited the Arizona faithful, which helped pave the way for a Diamondbacks victory.

Give me one more dose of that Wednesday for the Rockies.

Twins Tie Mark With 13th Straight Playoff Loss
The New York Yankees are moving on to the American League Division Series after surviving a wild start to the MLB playoffs. Brian Dozier and Eddie Rosario each mashed homers off Severino, ending their seasons on 35 and 28 jacks, respectively.

Most of all, Arizona's home field advantage is a clear benefit to a club who has had so much success at Chase Field.

The Rockies had an up-and-down regular season and their first playoff appearance since 2009 followed suit. His postseason record is 3-3 with a 3.55 ERA. They do have two strong MVP candidates in Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon, both of whom went deep 37 times, so they don't lack for firepower.

"Shoot, I'm not even playing in the game and I couldn't sleep last night ..."

"And there will be moments in the wild-card game where he's going to have to draw on that".

Unfortunately for Neshek, he wasn't able to corral Greinke's John Hancock at the All-Star Game, even though players often spend a decent chunk of time signing throughout the two-day Midsummer Classic events.

For the Rockies, Jon Gray will be getting the start.

I think both teams could be tough, but I don't want our boys to have to pitch at Coors Field!

"This series will determine who the better team is", he said.

After a great AL Wild Card Game last night, tonight is the NL's turn.

This is the third year in a row that we've seen an inter-divisional matchup in a Wild Card game.
