Flat Raiders flattened by Ravens in third straight loss

Ravens vs. Raiders Who the experts are taking Week 5

Raiders lost eight straight without Carr starting since Matt McGloin beat Houston on November 17, 2013. They couldn't keep pace with Denver.

Baltimore gets off the hook with its third win of the season.

If (there goes that word again) the Raiders are going to win without Carr, it should also go without saying that quarterback E.J.

Manuel played well in spurts after replacing Carr against the Broncos but is 6-11 in his career as a starter.

The Baltimore Ravens dominated the Oakland Raiders today.

The Baltimore Ravens took advantage of the Steelers loss thanks to their 30-17 road win over the Oakland Raiders Sunday afternoon. It didn't play out that way. Any gains that were made early, however, have been erased during the Raiders' current two-game slide.

The Baltimore Ravens started the game with a 50 yard bomb to Mike Wallace and instantly showed more offense than they did in the two previous games.

But the National Football League team's community efforts have set a new National Football League standard. The Browns aren't good enough to overcome their errors and they made four crucial ones in the first half.

Terrance West left in the first quarter with a left leg injury, but running backs Alex Collins and Buck Allen put in a blue-collar effort as the Ravens run game wore down the Raiders in the fourth quarter. Instead, the Ravens added another field goal and were up 24-10 going into halftime.

The Raiders' lone first-half highlight came on a broken play. He's completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 601 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions. That cut the Ravens lead to 21-10. He made big catch after big catch, and really stepped up when the rest of the offense chose to take the week off.

That didn't stop the Raiders from trying. It is very important for us, especially after these last two weeks, back being at home in front of your home crowd, being in the stadium and facility and not having to travel. Made a couple plays on third downs, kept drives alive. Oakland held the Ravens to two offensive touchdowns and three Justin Tucker field goals.

The Raiders never got close, and lost their third straight contest.

Plus, the Raiders also were without starting right guard Gabe Jackson (foot), cornerback David Amerson (concussion), running back DeAndre Washington (hamstring) and first-round draft pick Gareon Conley (shin). At that point nothing went right for the Raiders leaving them with more questions on just where this team stands. Now, the receiver that pass was intended for was Amari Cooper. He had one catch for eight yards. If Oakland loses to the Los Angeles Chargers next week at home, they will be tied for last place in the division.

Absent quarterback Derek Carr, the Raiders needed a quick start to help back-up EJ Manuel establish comfort.
