New Ford Ranger means MI jobs

The winners for 2018 North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) will be announced at the Detroit Auto Show on January 15.

American carmaking giant Ford has finally unveiled the new Edge ST SUV, ahead of its Detroit launch. The company hasn't exactly suffered without a small truck in its lineup - selling 897,764 F-Series trucks previous year - but the Ranger could still give Ford's US sales a boost.

"Ranger's FX4 Off-Road Package features an innovative Terrain Management System similar to the F-150 Raptor's".

The Blue Oval has kept its promise - a year ago they were revealing the Ranger nameplate would come back home - and here it is, the 2019 Ranger, featuring a 2.3L EcoBoost, 10-speed automatic, and even a dedicated FX4 Off-Road variant.

Ford isn't revealing output numbers yet, but the new ranger will have a 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine with a ten-speed transmission.

Vikings activate Bradford from IR for playoff game
To replace Cook, the Vikings have had running backs Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon combining for over 1,300 rushing yards. The victor moves a step closer to Super Bowl LII, which will be played in three weeks in the same stadium as Sunday's game.

Midsize truck fans can now start their dance of joy.

With an aluminum hood and tailgate, a steel frame, and steel bumpers, the truck should provide a good combination of strength with light weight for better fuel economy. For the moment, the most beastly iteration of the 2019 Ranger will be the FX4 Off-Road Package, with its beefier tires, bash and skid plates, and off-road-tuned shocks.

Although, for a return to the midsize truck segment, you might have expected Ford to target the full breadth of price points, it seems the blue oval is willing to sacrifice the very base level. It includes four distinct drive modes – normal; grass, gravel and snow; mud and ruts; and sand. It is available as FX2 with two-wheel drive or FX4 with four-wheel drive. A new trail control feature maintains a set speed even on slow, bumpy trails. Orians also suspects that while the Ranger has sentimental value for some drivers, most will prefer something more capable and comfortable.

Lots of modern entertainment and connectivity options will be available, like Ford's SYNC3 system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ford+Alexa personal assistant and 4G LTE modem with WiFi access for up to 10 devices is also optional. The Ranger XLT and Lariat trims will come standard with lane departure warning and lane-keep assist. The system will be standard on the XLT and Lariat trims.

The Ranger also will have a blind-spot information system with sensors that can extend their line of sight to the back of a trailer up to 33 feet long. "And that's before we introduce it in the biggest truck market in the world, which is the United States".
