Trump managed to enrage everyone with his immigration reform proposal

The Trump administration is open to a path to citizenship to some 1.8 million America's so- called "Dreamers" in exchange of the Dollars 25 billion for construction of a wall along the Mexican border and other security measures, officials said today.

But in a sign of hard negotiations ahead, some conservative Republicans rejected a pathway to citizenship and lawmakers in both parties questioned Trump's commitment to protecting the young immigrants known as "Dreamers" from deportation, a top Democratic priority. Renacci wants to set up a path for illegal immigrants to gain legal status, but believes it shouldn't supersede what law-abiding immigrants go through, said Knight.

Espinosa also worries about what the White House wants in exchange: $30 billion in border security funding, including $25 billion for a border wall, a scaled-back visa lottery system, and limits to legal immigration through close family ties. The diversity visa lottery would also be abolished, with those visas going to work through a backlog of people already waiting for family visas and high-skilled immigration green cards.

The framework includes a path to citizenship for 1.8 million immigrants who were brought to the United States illegally as children.

"The framework proposes solutions supported by both parties and the American people: securing our borders, providing long-term certainty for DACA-eligible youth, and making our immigration system more merit-based", he said.

"This truly represents a bi-partisan compromise position".

Tom Cotton is right, the support of Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin isn't necessary to pass an immigration bill.

Trump, Theresa May to meet on sidelines of Davos summit
Business leaders, politicians and representatives from non-government organisations will be among those in Davos for the forum.

However, Democrats like Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican, is "like announcing the sun has risen and there's fish in the ocean".

It would also require Congress to budget $25 billion for a "trust fund" for constructing a wall on the US-Mexico border - a major plank of Trump's White House campaign.

The memo mirrors the broad priorities that White House legislative affairs director Marc Short, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and other Trump administration officials have been outlining for weeks. One day anything can be said and feel like 'Yay! When Senate Republicans excluded a deal for Dreamers in the appropriations legislation, many Democrats rejected it.

Evangelicals leaders are celebrating Donald Trump's announcement of a "pathway" that could allow hundreds of thousands of people, brought into the U.S. illegally as children, to apply for citizenship.

Some conservatives are also likely to oppose the pathway to citizenship that Trump is endorsing.

"If they do a great job, I think it's a nice thing to have the incentive of, after a period of years, being able to become a citizen", Trump said Thursday.

Trump earlier this month had deferred to a bipartisan, bicameral group of lawmakers to craft an immigration proposal, saying he would sign whatever they passed. And even if they won't be targeted for deportation - although they could be, as the government has a vast amount of personal information on each Dreamer that they were required to turn over to apply for the program - without the DACA program, its recipients will lose their work permits.
