Hyundai Santa Fe design sketches released ahead of official Geneva debut

A few days after the first teaser image of 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe's release, South Korea's vehicle company has released two design sketches of this compact SUV of New Generation.

The U.S. sales of the aging Santa Fe climbed 1.5 percent previous year even as U.S. industry SUV and truck sales rose 4 percent.

Hyundai released no further details, but the earlier photo (below) highlighted that a new SmartSense safety package for the family SUV will include a Rear Occupant Alert monitor and rear cross-traffic collision warning with automatic braking.

More details will be revealed when Hyundai shows off the vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show this March. Looking at the company's image, it can be said that Hyundai will bring the new Santa Fe to the market with a great sporty look. Hyundai is hoping to make up some lost sales ground with the 2019 Santa Fe, which will obviously sport a bolder look than today's version.

The new Santa Fe takes inspiration from the Hyundai Kona this time and is all aggressive this time around. The Hyundai Santa Fe that was sold in India up until a year ago came with a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine that made 197BHP of power and 421Nm of torque.

Hyundai said it will receive preorders from Feb. 7, before the auto hits local showrooms in late February.

Speaking of the grille, Hyundai has beefed up its cascading grille design as well as adding a second grille below.

Korea's largest automaker held a media preview event on Tuesday and gave a sneak peek of the new vehicle's key features.
