Leicester City's Claude Puel gives Riyad Mahrez update

Sky claims Mahrez is "depressed" about Leicester's decision not to accept City's final bid, and has informed his club that "he is not strong enough to play football at the moment".

Riyad Mahrez, 26, is reportedly set to be fined £200,000 by Leicester City, following the winger's absence from training after a deadline day move to Manchester City fell through, according to the Daily Mail.

Leicester City boss Claude Puel has revealed that the Foxes are continuing to assess the ongoing situation involving Riyad Mahrez.

"Riyad is a good player but he is a good man also".

Puel insists it is only a matter of time before Mahrez, who still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at the King Power Stadium, returns to training and begins to "enjoy his football" again.

"I hope for Riyad that he can clear his head and come back with us because he's a big player".

"It's a tough situation for us and all of this is a situation we need to manage but all of the details will stay inside the club".

With the Premier League's current broadcasting deal worth £5.14 billion, gone are the days when the division's smaller clubs were left with little option other than to see their most influential players depart for sides at the top end of the table.

"We need to stay united after all this".
