Bandai Namco could be handling Metroid Prime 4's development

Given how acclaimed the first-person shooter series was, it seems a little odd that it would take the best part of a decade to commission another entry in the Metroid Prime series.

The reveal of Metroid Prime 4 was one of Nintendo's biggest announcements at E3 2017.

When Nintendo announced the Switch exclusive at last year's E3 with an enigmatic logo trailer, it was assumed that Texas-based Retro Studios would be working on the title since it was the developer on the three previous Metroid Prime games. The rumors previously had Bandai Namco Singapore behind the game, but there was nothing to confirm them at that time.

ESPN Plus Streaming Service Announced, Will Cost $4.99 A Month
Disney is in the process of creating a ESPN Plus app, that it plans to sell to USA customers for $4.99 per month. Investors are surely hoping that ESPN Plus will inject some much-needed life into a network that has struggled.

The game is still early in its development and likely won't be released this year. Bandai Namco's name was being affiliated with the project. At the very least, however, there is a good amount of circumstantial evidence that lends credence to thm, most notably Nintendo's relationship with Bandai Namco. It differed from earlier Metroid games with its first-person perspective, unique control scheme, and fully-realised 3D environments.

For the uninitiated, the Metroid trilogy had you in the role of bounty hunter Samus Aran who was tasked with exploring varied, alien landscapes, battling space pirates, and solving puzzles along the way.

Now, it seems some unnamed sources have confirmed that Bandai Namco is indeed the developer behind the game, specifically Bandai Namco Studios Singapore. However, we still don't know if this will be the focus of the plot for Metroid Prime 4. This may disappoint some fans who were hoping that Retro Studios would be going back to the series that put them on the map, but when all said and done, this only means that Retro will be working on something wholly new.
