Why did Trump adviser Jared Kushner meet with Sixers owner Joshua Harris?

According to The New York Times, Kushner, a senior White House adviser, met with the co-founder of private equity firm Apollo Global Management, Joshua Harris, and the chief executive of banking giant Citigroup, Michael L. Corbat, before Kushner Companies received a combined $509 million from them.

It was one of the largest loans Kushner Cos. received previous year.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that Kushner held meetings with Apollo Global Management founder Joshua Harris past year on multiple occasions. Kushner has had to amend his security clearance questionnaire several times during the past year to include meetings with foreign nationals.

The report comes one day after Kushner's White House security clearance was downgraded, cutting off his access to top secret intelligence.

DFS Superintendent Maria Vullo, an appointee of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, has asked for the banks to reply to her request by Monday, March 5, said the person familiar with the letters. At the time, the spokeswoman for Kushner Cos. said the firm "has cooperated and will continue to cooperate with any reasonable request for information". Following the meeting Apollo, which is the world's largest private equity firm, lent $184 million to Kushner's family real estate firm, Kushner Companies.

An Apollo spokesperson, Charles V. Zehren, said Harris was not involved in the decision to loan money to Kushner Cos. Reports have indicated Mueller has interest in Kushner's interaction with a Chinese company during the transition, Anbang Insurance, which was considering investing in the Kushner Cos. -owned 666 Fifth Ave. property in Manhattan. She described Kushner Cos as a "multibillion enterprise that is extremely financially strong".

Confident of Netanyahu turns state witness in corruption case
Yeshua is said to have suspected dirty dealings when Elovitz began pressuring him to offer more favorable coverage of Netanyahu. The two men have been identified as Nir Hefetz and Eli Kamir, both former Netanyahu family media advisers.

The men didn't discuss Kushner's family real estate firm - but it was after those White House sit downs that Trump's son-in-law got the $325 million loan from Citigroup, according to The Times.

Taylor, of Kushner Cos, told the Times "stories like these attempt to make insinuating connections that do not exist to disparage the financial institutions and companies involved". That loan was offered soon after Kushner met with Citigroup's chief executive, according to the Times.

Kushner resigned as CEO of the real estate business in early January 2017, but he still retained some of his interest in the company. The inquiries ask for information from banks about their relationships with Mr. Kushner, including his bank accounts and loans, they said.

Kushner's company, which he left to take his position in the White House past year, is also being investigated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, along with federal prosecutors in NY, over its use of a visa program used to attract foreign investment, according to Bloomberg.

Kushner has been forced to repeatedly correct omissions in his "SF-86", the government-wide form used to apply for clearances, as well as his financial disclosure forms, which experts said could delay or even end his chances of earning a clearance through the normal process.

Federal ethics regulations restrict government employees from participating in some matters that involve companies with which the official is seeking "a business, contractual or other financial relationship that involves other than a routine consumer transaction".
