Turkey to set up camps for 170000 people near Syria's Idlib

Despite the vagueness of the Pentagon statement, it is clear that the U.S. in now admitting to the departure of Kurdish forces from battles against Islamic State insurgents both in the past six weeks since the Turkish Army and allied militias kicked-off their Afrin operation and still currently.

"We have taken out 1,700 fighters.to defend Afrin against terrorism", said Abu Omar al-Edilbi, the spokesman for the militias that have been fighting Islamic State in eastern Syria as part of the USA -backed Syrian Democratic Forces.

In a written statement, Turkish General Staff said the soldier was wounded on March 1 during ongoing Operation Olive Branch in Syria's Afrin.

Turkey and allied Syrian rebels are waging a weeks-long offensive in the Afrin region, which is held by a Kurdish militia that makes up the bulk of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). They were moving from frontlines further east, where the Kurdish-led SDF seized vast territory from Islamic State militants a year ago with the help of US jets and special forces.

The news comes as the Pentagon told RIA Novosti earlier in the day that units from the SDF had been relocated from the Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria, where the US-led coalition is carrying out its anti-Daesh* military campaign. According to the SDF leadership, the decision was taken because the global community failed to act in the face of what they call Turkish aggression.

Ankara and allied Syrian rebels launched their offensive against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Afrin on 20 January and have since captured a strip along the border between the enclave and Turkish territory.

The Pentagon said on Monday that Kurdish fighters had left the Deir Ezzor front, leading to an "operational pause" in their offensive against IS.

Turkey denies the reports and says it takes the "utmost care" to avoid civilian casualties.
