British Chem Attack May Have Occurred at Victim's Wife's Grave

Former Russian spy Sergei Skripal, 66, and his daughter Yulia, 33, were still hospitalized in "very serious condition" after being poisoned earlier this week, UK Home Secretary Amber Rudd said as she visited Salisbury on Friday.

Skripal and his daughter Yulia, seen in a composite photo, were found slumped on a park bench last Sunday outside a shopping centre in the southern English town of Salisbury.

British investigators are scrambling to trace the nerve agent that has left former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in critical condition.

A police officer who needed intensive care after attending the scene of a poisoning in Salisbury has said he does not consider himself a "hero" and he was "merely doing his job". Skripal a retired Russian colonel recruited by British intelligence in the mid-1990s was sentenced Wednesday by a military court in Moscow to 13 years imprisonment for spying, officials said.

Almost a week has passed since father and daughter were found unconscious on a public bench in Salisbury in southern England last Sunday.

Police said Skripal and his daughter were deliberately targeted with the rare toxin.

Kier Pritchard, temporary chief constable of Wiltshire police, which covers Salisbury, told Britain's Sky News on Thursday that "multiple" police officers and members of the public had been assessed by medics: "A number of those had been through the hospital treatment process, there have been blood tests and they're having treatment in terms of support and advice".

The British police and government have so far not publicly identified the suspect behind the attack but plans are being drawn up if the Kremlin is implicated in the attack.

Police have cordoned off sites including ex-spy Sergei Skripal's house, a vehicle, the cemetery where his wife is buried, a restaurant and a pub. Skripal's wife passed away from cancer in 2012 at the age of 60. Alexander died a year ago at the age of 43.

Officers in hazmat suits were seen placing a blue forensic tent over his son's memorial stone before appearing to stuff items in several yellow barrels.

Blair told BBC radio that detective Sgt. Nick Bailey had "actually been to the house, whereas there is a doctor who looked after the patients in the open who hasn't been affected at all".

"So there may be some clues floating around in here".

The police came to the conclusion that Skripal had been poisoned nervously-paralytic substance, whose name is not yet known.

Meanwhile, Russia's foreign minister expressed resentment at suggestions Moscow was behind the attack and said the Kremlin was "ready to consider" lending a hand in any investigation, "whether it's [about] poisoning of some British subjects, whether it's rumors about interference in the USA election campaign".

"We're accused not only of this, but we are accused of everything that goes wrong on this planet, according to our Western partners", Lavrov said.

Rudd said more than 250 counter terrorism police, from eight out of Britain's 11 specialist units, were involved in the investigation, which was proceeding with "speed and professionalism". "If you really need help from Russian Federation, then we will be ready to consider such a possibility, if we do have relevant data", he said, speaking in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Kremlin, which denies any involvement, says it resents the finger-pointing and suspicions that Russian Federation played a role.
