Google may change this Android name

Google just released its Android P developer preview for the year giving a fair glimpse to the developers of the "programming features" that they can integrate on apps. Surprisingly, the update also features a new icon for the Wear OS as well. Android Wear 2.0 landed in mid-2017 which allowed a lot more personalization, custom controls, specific apps, and brilliant craftsmanship. This according to a Reddit user who claimed to have been greeted with a new icon and moniker when setting up a new Android Wear-powered smartwatch.

The icon, a stylized "W" in Google's trademark color scheme, looks like a mix between the Google Assistant icon we're familiar with and the logo of Warner Bros. and HBO holding company, Warner Communications (although it's safe to assume the latter is coincidental).

Macron lauds India's climate change efforts, takes a jibe at Trump
Initially, ISA envisaged 121 sunshine countries situated between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn as its members. As per a report from Mercom India, India crossed just over 20 gigawatts of solar energy production in January.

The notification was generated by Google Play services, specifically the "Nearby" functionality that "helps you find and interact with services and devices close to you".

Cross-checking the information, the rebranded name "Wear OS" and logo appears only with recent Google Play Services beta update (12.5 version). After all, one can use Android Wear watches with iPhones too. Many brands have lost interest in the platform, and Android Wear devices were expelled from the Google Store after the Mountain View-based search giant nixed the inclusion of third-party manufacturers. Fashion brands continue to release new hardware running the OS, but it's been a hot minute since a major tech company has put any real time or effort into releasing new products with it. A Redditor (via Android Police) spotted the Wear OS text recently when pairing an Android Wear device, and it was accompanied by what could be a new logo (here's the original). While Android Wear is technically Android, it could be that Google wants the name to be more inclusive for its compatibility with other mobile operating systems.
