GoPro's new entry-level Hero camera costs $199

Obviously, the HERO line has always been fairly affordable - especially the HERO5 at $299 - but with this new entry-level HERO, GoPro is really looking to remove price as a barrier to entry for some people. So far, you'll notice a few features missing that GoPro offers in its higher-priced cameras. The backside has a two-inch touchscreen display and the built-in voice control can start and stop recording, turn off the camera, plus more.

The new Hero is not meant to replace the Hero 5 Session; GoPro will keep selling that small, cube-shaped camera for now. But the new Hero has been simplified and abridged to make it easier to use and to bring the price way down.

The GoPro Hero is available to purchase right now, for £199.99. But what's the main difference between this new camera and the others? We found the new entry-level GoPro Hero on sale in a retail shop ahead its rumoured release date this weekend and bought it before it was taken off the shelves. The GoPro Hero features a 10MP camera lens that can shoot HD video at 1440p and 1080p at 60 frames per second. According to GoPro, "cloud backup, damaged camera replacement, 20-percent off accessory discounts and more are included with a PLUS subscription for just $4.99 a month, cancellable anytime".

Toys "R" Us liquidation sales delayed; expected to begin Friday
The chain's collapse will see all 100 of its United Kingdom stores shut for good, leaving 3,000 people without jobs . Toys R Us announced last week that it would be selling or closing all 735 of its remaining USA stores.

The camera has been constructed with durability at front of mind, and GoPro says it's suitable for "kids, adventurous social sharers and travel lovers" - so it should withstand commutes where you might want to record what's going on, too.

Memories captured on the GoPro HERO are transferred to the GoPro app on a smartphone or tablet, saving you the trouble of working with memory cards or having to plug the camera into a computer.
