Eliminated Gaza Engineer Was Working on Hamas Missile Program

Malaysian police chief Mohamad Fuzi Bin Harun said on Sunday that no arrests had been made.

"Apart from that, we also assured the safety of the Palestinian Embassy in Malaysia", he told a media conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters here today.

US Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt put out his own tweet: "A full investigation by Israel of Mohammed Ayoub's death is underway so that we will be able to understand what happened".

Fadi, a 35-year-old electrical engineering lecturer at a private institution of higher learning here, was gunned down as he was walking to a surau near a condominium in Jalan Meranti, Setapak, here at about 6 am yesterday. There's a tradition at this point among terrorist organisations of blaming Israel for every settling of accounts.

Hamas has accused Israel of conducting assassinations of its experts overseas in the past, although Mossad has never confirmed such operations.

Malaysian investigators collect evidence at the spot where Fadi al-Batsh was cut down in a hail of bullets. That day will mark the 70th anniversary of Israel's establishment - an event Palestinians refer to as "the Catastrophe".

Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, said after the killing that, based on the pattern of previous assassinations by the Israeli intelligence agency, "Mossad is not [far]..."

Gennady Golovkin will defend his middleweight title against Vanes Martirosyan at the Stub Hub Center in California on May 5. Canelo Alvarez has been handed a six-month suspension for testing positive for banned substance Clenbuterol.

"We heard about it in the news".

Besides his Hamas affiliation, al-Batsh was also a cousin of Khaled al-Batsh, a senior official in the Islamic Jihad militant group, who accused Mossad of the assassination, without providing evidence.

Palestinian representative to Malaysia Anwar Al-Agha said Al-Batsh's body would be taken back to the Palestinian territories for burial.

Hamas has acknowledged that al-Batsh was a member of the organization's terrorist wing.

Hamas did not directly accuse Israel, which carries out air strikes in retaliation for cross-border rocket fire by militants in Gaza, of killing him, but it called Batsh a "martyr" - a term used for people killed by Israeli forces. Speaking to Israeli radio, Lieberman described the dead Palestinian, a member of Hamas, as "no saint" and said he had been involved in rocket production.

Yet that narrative quickly evaporated as Hamas admitted Abtash was an important member of the group.

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said on Saturday the suspects in the killing, who fled the scene, were believed to be Europeans with links to a foreign intelligence agency, state news agency Bernama reported. Al-Batsh was married with three young children and had lived in Malaysia for 10 years.
