Alfie Evans breathing unaided, father says

This is the latest in a number of court battles between the parents and the hospital, which say it is in the child's best interests to withdraw life support as his brain condition, which has never been diagnosed, can not be treated.

Between 4 and 5am this morning the Hospital reluctantly gave in to continued requests and provided some hydration and oxygen support.

"In this way the Italian government hopes that being an Italian citizen will allow the child immediate transfer to Italy".

Evans told BBC News that his son is "is now on oxygen". He said he was losing his colour and his fingers were turning blue.

He added: "Because he's been doing it for nine hours totally unexpected, the doctors are gobsmacked and I do believe he will need some form of life support in the next couple of hours and I think he ought to be respected and given that".

Pope Francis tweeted: "Moved by the prayers and enormous solidarity shown little Alfie Evans, I renew my appeal that the suffering of his parents may be heard and that their desire to seek new forms of treatment may be granted".

'Foreign minister Angelino Alfano and interior minister Marco Minniti have granted citizenship to little Alfie, ' a statement from the Italian ministry on Monday night read. If there is anything at all that can be done, may the Lord enable us by His love and grace to effect it.

The European Court of Human Rights has today rejected the application submitted by the family of Alfie Evans as inadmissible.

The parents have subsequently lost several challenges to this decision.

On Monday, a large group of protesters attempted to storm the entrance before being blocked by police.

But, like, why is she posting these? 'Thank you for the motivation to go to the gym today!' one said , which seemed fair enough. And, now Kim has opened up about the ordeal yet again and has even gone as far to admit that it was "supposed to happen".

A conference call then took place between the family's legal team, Justice Anthony Hayden who since February has been ruling to end Alfie's life against his parents' wishes, Ambassador Trombetta, Tom and Kate, and the hospital's administration.

The 23-month-old child, has been in a coma for over a year and needs a ventilator to keep him breathing due to a rare degenerative neurological condition.

"No-one knows why. But that it has happened and is continuing to happen can not be denied".

Although she came as an envoy of the Holy Father, Enoc was not allowed to see Alfie nor meet hospital chiefs.

In line with usual policy it has not commented on his condition. Our Emergency Department is still open, however only attend if you have an accident or emergency that requires urgent care. This is our normal and agreed practice with all our patients.

The children's hospital also urged people not to contact its staff or switchboard seeking news about the youngster.

'Thank you for your continued cooperation'.

A judge dismissed fresh submissions heard in private from lawyers representing Alfie's parents, Tom Evans, 21, and Kate James, 20, yesterday evening. "Clearly this is a complex legal matter but at its heart is the wellbeing of a young child and that remains everyone's focus".
