The interior Minister of the United Kingdom resigned

British Prime Minister Theresa May has appointed Pakistani-origin Sajid Javid as the country's new Home Secretary.

To cheers from members within the Chamber, she said: "Could I take the opportunity to congratulate my right honourable friend for Bromsgrove on his appointment to the Home Office".

May in 2012 said she wanted to create a "really hostile environment for illegal immigrants" and rules were tightened that ended up affecting people they hadn't been designed to target.

A government clampdown on illegal immigration has begun to identify those without papers, scooping up many elderly people from the Windrush generation - named after the ship that brought the first group of migrants from the West Indies in 1948.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn told the Prime Minister on Monday she now has "questions to answer" about her time in the Home Office following the resignation of her "human shield" Ms Rudd.

Highlighting his status as a second-generation migrant, the Home Secretary described how the row has "affected me greatly", adding: "I thought that that could be my mum, my brother, my uncle or even me".

The Minister of internal Affairs of great Britain of amber Rudd Sunday, April 29, left his post.

Many in May's Conservative Party, welcomed the appointment, with Liz Truss, a treasury minister, writing on Twitter that Javid "is effective, no-nonsense and courageous".

Freda said that the officers suffered cuts, abrasions, and bruises, and were treated at Yale New Haven hospital. None of the injuries to the officers were considered life-threatening, the Associated Press reports .

Rudd was also seen as a moderate on the European Union and a balancing force in a cabinet containing several big-name pro-Brexit figures.

The issue of removals targets was raised as part of the Home Affairs Committee's inquiry into the Windrush children, who came to the United Kingdom legally in the 1950s and 1960s but have since been threatened with deportation or denied access to public services because of uncertainty about their immigration status.

"I think there are many political fingerprints over the mishandling of Windrush cases, including going back to the Tony Blair years", he said.

May serve as Home Secretary from 2010 to 2016 under then-Prime Minister David Cameron.

Ms Rudd quit her position on Sunday night.

Sajid Javid, the son of immigrants from Pakistan, pledged that his new department would learn the lessons of what happened to the so-called "Windrush generation" from the review, which would be concluded before the summer. "She cared passionately about her work at the Home Office and in my dealings with her, she showed she fully understood child sexual exploitation in Telford". Some Tory MPs urged him not to allow the Government's guard to drop on the issue.

He was replaced as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government by former Northern Ireland secretary James Brokenshire, who has recently returned to Westminster after treatment for cancer. Her departure now puts May in the firing line because the opposition in Britain is unlikely to keep quiet on the issue after Rudd's resignation.

Rudd's departure deals a further blow to the embattled Prime Minister's leadership, after a misjudged election past year aimed at "strengthening her hand" in Brexit negotiations backfired spectacularly when her Conservative party lost its parliamentary majority.
